Asset Backed Securities

Definition

Asset Backed Securities are financial instruments collateralized by a pool of underlying assets. These securities derive their value from the cash flows generated by these aggregated assets, such as mortgages, auto loans, or credit card receivables. Their structure permits the transformation of illiquid assets into tradable financial products, facilitating capital reallocation across markets. This securitization process allows various risks and returns to be sliced and distributed among investors.
