Asset Restaking

Definition

Asset restaking involves the reallocation of already staked digital assets to participate in additional yield-generating opportunities or validation services within a blockchain ecosystem. This practice allows asset holders to leverage their existing collateral to earn supplementary rewards, thereby increasing capital efficiency. It fundamentally expands the utility of staked assets beyond their initial purpose. The mechanism often requires careful consideration of risk management due to the increased exposure to protocol-specific incentives and potential slashing events across multiple networks or services.
