BFT Protocol

Definition

A BFT Protocol is a system designed to reach agreement even when some network participants are unreliable or malicious. Byzantine Fault Tolerance protocols enable distributed networks to maintain operational consistency and data integrity despite the presence of faulty nodes. These mechanisms ensure that all honest nodes agree on the same state, preventing system failures caused by arbitrary or dishonest actions. They are critical for the security and reliability of many blockchain systems, particularly those requiring high assurance in a permissioned or semi-permissioned setting.
