Block Proposer Liveness

Definition

Block proposer liveness refers to the continuous ability of designated network participants to propose new blocks for addition to a blockchain. This ensures the ongoing progress and transactional throughput of the distributed ledger. A healthy liveness condition indicates that block production remains consistent, preventing network stagnation. It is a critical metric for assessing the operational health and reliability of a proof-of-stake or similar consensus mechanism.
