Common Reporting Standard

Definition

The Common Reporting Standard is an information standard for the automatic exchange of financial account information between tax authorities globally. Developed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, it mandates financial institutions to collect and report specific data on non-resident account holders. This standard aims to prevent offshore tax evasion by providing tax administrations with a clear view of financial assets held abroad. It establishes a consistent framework for international tax transparency.
