Compute Resource Theft

Definition

Compute Resource Theft involves the unauthorized use or appropriation of computing power, storage, or network bandwidth belonging to another party. This malicious activity often occurs when attackers gain control over systems to mine cryptocurrencies, launch denial-of-service attacks, or perform other resource-intensive operations without the owner’s consent. It results in financial losses for the victim due to increased energy consumption and operational costs. Such actions compromise system integrity and availability.
