Data Feed

Definition

A data feed delivers external information, like prices, to blockchain applications. A data feed is a stream of information, typically from off-chain sources, supplied to smart contracts operating on a blockchain. These feeds are crucial for decentralized applications (dApps) that require real-world data to execute their logic, such as DeFi protocols needing current asset prices. Oracles act as the intermediaries responsible for aggregating, validating, and transmitting this data securely and reliably onto the chain.
