Decentralized Attack

Definition

A decentralized attack describes a coordinated malicious action against a distributed system, such as a blockchain network, where the attackers operate without a single point of control. Unlike traditional centralized attacks, these threats often leverage the distributed nature of the system itself, such as a 51% attack on a proof-of-work blockchain or sybil attacks against decentralized governance. The goal is to disrupt network operations, compromise data integrity, or gain undue influence over the system.
