Designated Verifier SNARKs

Definition

Designated Verifier SNARKs are a specific category of zero-knowledge proofs where only a predetermined entity can verify the proof’s validity. Unlike universal SNARKs, these proofs restrict verification capabilities to a singular, authorized party, rather than allowing any observer to confirm the statement. This cryptographic construction provides privacy and efficiency for specific applications where limited verification access is desired. Such systems are applicable in scenarios demanding controlled disclosure and verification of sensitive data.
