Epoch Finality

Definition

Epoch finality is the assurance that all transactions within a specific block production period, known as an epoch, are irreversibly settled. In Proof-of-Stake blockchains, epochs are discrete time intervals during which a set of validators is responsible for proposing and validating blocks. Once an epoch concludes and is finalized, its contained data is considered immutable and cannot be reverted without a substantial and highly improbable network consensus override. This mechanism provides strong transactional certainty for network participants.
