Execution throughput measures the total number of transactions or operations a blockchain network can successfully process within a given time period. This metric is a primary indicator of a network’s scalability and efficiency, directly influencing its capacity to support a large user base and complex decentralized applications. Higher throughput means more transactions can be confirmed faster and often at lower costs. Factors such as block size, consensus mechanism, and transaction processing architecture all impact a blockchain’s execution throughput.
