Expander Key Chain

Definition

An expander key chain refers to a cryptographic construction where a single initial secret key can deterministically generate a series of related, yet distinct, keys. This process allows for the creation of multiple sub-keys from a root key, often in a hierarchical manner. The primary advantage is improved security and convenience, as users only need to back up one master key to recover all derived keys. Each sub-key can be used for specific purposes, isolating potential compromises.
