Fully Reserved Asset

Definition

A fully reserved asset is a digital asset where each unit in circulation is backed one-to-one by an equivalent amount of a corresponding underlying asset held in reserve. This reserve is typically maintained in a transparent and auditable manner to ensure that the digital asset’s value is consistently redeemable. The concept aims to provide stability and confidence by mitigating counterparty risk. Stablecoins often employ this model to maintain their peg.
