Hardness Assumptions

Definition

Hardness assumptions are fundamental cryptographic postulates asserting that certain mathematical problems are computationally intractable for any efficient algorithm. These assumptions form the security bedrock for most modern cryptographic systems, including those underpinning blockchain technology and digital signatures. The security of a cryptographic protocol directly relies on the presumed difficulty of solving these underlying mathematical challenges. Without these assumptions, many digital security measures would be compromised.
