Layer 2 Primitives

Definition

Layer 2 Primitives are fundamental building blocks or core functionalities developed on top of a main blockchain, known as Layer 1, to enhance its capabilities. These primitives typically focus on improving scalability, transaction speed, or privacy without compromising the security of the underlying chain. Examples include basic components for rollups, state channels, or sidechains. They serve as foundational elements for constructing more complex decentralized applications and protocols.
