Definition

A minting vulnerability describes a flaw in the code or logic of a smart contract that governs the creation of new tokens. This flaw could permit unauthorized parties to create an excessive number of tokens or manipulate the minting process. Such a vulnerability can lead to inflation, devaluation of the token, and significant financial losses for holders. It represents a critical security risk for token-based projects. This defect threatens the token supply.
