On-Chain Loss Volume

Definition

On-chain loss volume represents the total value of digital assets moved on a blockchain at a price lower than their acquisition cost. This metric quantifies the aggregate financial losses realized by market participants when they sell or transfer assets below their original purchase price. It provides insight into the degree of capitulation or profit-taking behavior occurring within the market. High on-chain loss volume often indicates periods of significant investor despair and can sometimes precede market bottoms as weaker hands exit their positions.
