On-Chain Trust

Definition

On-chain trust refers to the reliance on cryptographic proofs and protocol rules recorded on a blockchain, rather than intermediaries. This concept replaces traditional reliance on third-party assurances with verifiable, immutable data and automated smart contract execution. Participants trust the integrity of the underlying blockchain network and its consensus mechanisms to enforce agreements and manage assets. It represents a fundamental shift towards decentralized verification and reduced counterparty risk in digital transactions.
