Oracle Integration

Definition

Oracle integration is the process of connecting external, real-world data to blockchain-based smart contracts. Blockchains are deterministic systems, meaning they cannot directly access information outside their own network. Oracles act as bridges, fetching off-chain data—such as asset prices, weather conditions, or election results—and securely feeding it onto the blockchain for smart contracts to utilize. This capability is crucial for enabling smart contracts to react to real-world events and execute complex agreements based on external conditions.
