Parachain Architecture

Definition

Parachain architecture describes a system of specialized blockchains that operate in parallel and connect to a central relay chain. This design, notably used by Polkadot, allows different blockchains (parachains) to process transactions concurrently, improving network scalability and interoperability while sharing the security of the main relay chain. Each parachain can be customized for specific applications, offering flexibility and optimized performance for diverse use cases. This modular approach aims to overcome the limitations of single-chain blockchain designs.
