Permissioned Asset

Definition

A Permissioned Asset is a digital asset whose transferability, ownership, or usage is restricted to a predefined group of authorized participants. Unlike open, permissionless cryptocurrencies, these assets require specific authorization or adherence to certain criteria for interaction. Access control mechanisms, often enforced by smart contracts or centralized administrators, dictate who can hold, trade, or otherwise interact with the asset. This design facilitates regulatory compliance and controlled environments.
