PoS Centralization Risk

Definition

PoS centralization risk describes the potential for control within a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain network to become concentrated among a small number of validators or staking pools. This concentration can arise from factors such as large initial token holdings, economies of scale for staking operations, or preferential access to information. Such a scenario reduces the network’s censorship resistance and security, contravening the decentralized principle. It presents a vulnerability where a few entities could exert undue influence over transaction validation and network governance.
