Proof-Of-Capability

Definition

Proof-of-capability is a cryptographic mechanism demonstrating that a participant possesses specific rights or abilities within a system. Instead of proving ownership of a resource, it proves the ability to perform an action or access a service, often without revealing the underlying credentials. In decentralized systems, this can be used to grant conditional access or to verify a node’s eligibility for certain tasks. It provides a secure and verifiable way to manage permissions and entitlements in a distributed environment.
