Resource-Limited Device

Definition

A resource-limited device is a computing unit with constrained processing power, memory, or network bandwidth. In the context of digital assets, these devices might include older smartphones, low-power IoT sensors, or specialized hardware with minimal computational capabilities. Their limitations present challenges for directly participating in blockchain networks that require significant computational resources for full node operation or complex cryptographic computations. Optimizing protocols for such devices is an ongoing area of development.
