Sequential Signatures

Definition

Sequential signatures are cryptographic signatures where each successive signer adds their approval to a transaction in a specific, predetermined order. Unlike multi-signature schemes where approvals can be collected in any order, sequential signatures enforce a strict sequence of authorization. This method provides an auditable trail of approval steps, ensuring that each party has reviewed and validated the transaction at their designated stage. They are often employed in complex workflows requiring phased approvals or conditional releases of digital assets.
