Definition

Shared Sequencer Networks are decentralized systems that provide a common transaction ordering service for multiple layer-2 rollup blockchains. Instead of each rollup operating its own sequencer, these networks allow rollups to share a set of independent sequencers. This arrangement aims to enhance censorship resistance, improve interoperability, and mitigate the risks associated with a single sequencer. They facilitate atomic cross-rollup transactions and reduce MEV extraction.
