Speculative Finality

Definition

Speculative Finality refers to a state in certain blockchain protocols where transactions are considered irreversible with a high probability, but not absolute certainty, before full network consensus is achieved. This allows for faster transaction processing and user experience by providing an early, strong indication of confirmation. However, a very small risk remains that these transactions could be reverted if a significant network reorganization occurs. It balances speed with a slight compromise on immediate absolute certainty.
