Stablecoin Exploit

Definition

A stablecoin exploit refers to a security breach or manipulation that causes a stablecoin to lose its intended peg to an underlying asset, such as the US dollar. These exploits often result from vulnerabilities in the stablecoin’s smart contract, its algorithmic stability mechanisms, or the off-chain reserves backing it. Attackers can depeg the stablecoin, causing significant financial losses for holders and disrupting the broader decentralized finance ecosystem. Such incidents severely undermine trust in the stablecoin’s reliability and its issuer.
