State Integrity Proof

Definition

A state integrity proof is a cryptographic assurance that the current state of a blockchain or a specific part of it is correct and has not been tampered with. These proofs mathematically confirm that all transactions leading to the current state were valid according to the protocol rules. They allow network participants to verify the legitimacy of the ledger without processing every historical transaction. This mechanism is fundamental for maintaining trust and security in distributed systems.
