Sybil Resistance Strategies

Definition

Sybil resistance strategies are mechanisms implemented within decentralized networks, particularly blockchains, to prevent a single entity from controlling multiple identities or nodes to manipulate the system. A Sybil attack involves one actor creating numerous pseudonymous identities to gain disproportionate influence over network processes, such as voting or block validation. These strategies aim to ensure that each unique participant holds a proportional share of power. They are fundamental for maintaining the integrity and decentralization of permissionless systems.
