Technical Bounce

Definition

A Technical Bounce is a temporary price recovery in an asset after a period of decline, driven by technical factors rather than fundamental changes. This short-term upward movement often occurs when an asset’s price reaches a significant support level, becomes oversold, or encounters short covering. It is typically a reaction to extreme price movements, where buyers step in to capitalize on perceived temporary undervaluation or to close short positions. A technical bounce does not necessarily signal a reversal of the underlying downtrend but rather a brief respite in selling pressure.
