Trusted Authority

Definition

A trusted authority refers to an entity, individual, or system whose authenticity and integrity are accepted without requiring direct cryptographic verification by all participants. In centralized systems, this might be a certificate authority or a government body. In some blockchain contexts, it can refer to a consortium member or a specific oracle provider whose data is relied upon. The reliance on a trusted authority introduces a point of centralization but can improve efficiency and manageability.
