Trustless Finality

Definition

Trustless finality describes a state in a blockchain network where the confirmation of transactions is cryptographically guaranteed and does not require reliance on any external or centralized authority. Once a transaction achieves trustless finality, its inclusion in the ledger is irreversible and cannot be censored or altered by any single entity or coalition of entities. This property is a core tenet of decentralized systems, ensuring absolute certainty regarding the ledger’s state. It is a direct outcome of robust consensus mechanisms.
