Typosquatting

Definition

Typosquatting is a deceptive cyberattack method where malicious actors register domain names that are slight misspellings or variations of legitimate, popular websites. The purpose is to trick users who mistype a URL into visiting the fraudulent site, where they may be exposed to malware, phishing attempts, or data theft. This tactic is frequently used to target cryptocurrency exchanges and wallet services.
