Unpatched Vulnerability

Definition

An unpatched vulnerability is a known software flaw or security weakness for which a corrective update or fix has not yet been applied. These vulnerabilities represent significant security risks, as malicious actors can exploit them to gain unauthorized access, steal data, or disrupt systems. They persist when software developers have released a patch, but users or administrators have not installed it. Such flaws can lead to severe compromises in digital asset platforms and user wallets.
