Wallet Drainage

Definition

Wallet drainage describes the unauthorized and complete removal of all digital assets from a cryptocurrency wallet. This malicious act typically occurs due to a security breach, such as a compromised private key, a successful phishing attack, or exploitation of a software vulnerability. Once a wallet is drained, the assets are transferred to an attacker’s address, often making recovery extremely difficult or impossible due to the immutable nature of blockchain transactions. It represents a total loss of funds for the victim.
