Whisk Leader Election

Definition

Whisk Leader Election is a specific block proposer selection protocol designed for Proof of Stake blockchain networks, notably Ethereum’s beacon chain. It employs a shuffle-based Single Secret Leader Election mechanism to conceal the identity of the next block proposer until their designated slot. This approach aims to prevent targeted denial-of-service attacks and censorship by malicious actors who might otherwise disrupt network operations. It enhances the security and resilience of the consensus process.
